The idea of lip coloring had been present since ancient times. Women as renowned as Cleopatra VII, the last pharaoh of Ancient Egypt, and Queen Elizabeth I of England used to color their lip tattoo perth red. Cleopatra used crushed ants and carmine in the base if beeswax to color her lips while Queen Elizabeth I used crushed, dried flowers, such as roses and geraniums, and beeswax to color hers. This cements the fact that women throughout history were conscious of the fact that keeping their lips rosy increases their sensual allure. This could be because red lips signify youthfulness; the redness of the lips is a signal of a healthy blood flow, the simplest sign of life and vitality.
Lip Gloss Came Into Being
Lip gloss cannot be confused with traditional lipstick, or lip balm. Lipstick is a substance that drastically changes the color of the lips for fashion purposes. These are the striking reds, the full blacks, the modest pinks on the lips of women. Lip balm, on the other hand, is a medicinal balm that can be used to heal and soothe lips from various injuries usually from chapping caused by extreme heat, freezing temperature or strong gusts of wind. And here is the lip gloss, which is a transparent or slightly opaque colored product that gives lips a glossy surface and can add a plumping effect to the lips. Since its inception until now, lip gloss has been made in countless variations, from fully transparent liquids to the opaque shades of color that can have various finishes such as metallic, glittered, glassy, frosted, and sun protection. Lip gloss can also last for longer periods of time and can be more water-resistant.
Max Factor invented the lip gloss in 1930. This was because he wanted to make a product that would make lips shiny and glossy for the films and thus he developed the lip gloss which was specifically for actresses who starred in black and white films where the usual red color of the lipstick would prove unnecessary. Though lip gloss was initially made as a cosmetic product, now it has evolved to be valued for some moisturizing benefits and protection from the harsh elements like strong gusts of wind and extreme heat from the sun. This is now often used when a person wants to have some color on the lips, but does not want an intense, solid color which is the result of using lipstick.
Lip gloss has the perfect balance as it can be used by both men and women who realize that dry, chapped lips are not only unattractive but could also be potentially painful since dry lips are inevitably rather prone to tearing. And thus, lips gloss can no longer be glossed over as it has proven itself to be more flexible than the vibrant lipsticks and just as capable of the soothing qualities of a lip balm.
The main ingredient in a lip gloss includes a carrier oil, like a vegetable oil. It also has beeswax and essential oils. Cocoa butter will make it smoother. Vitamin E will help condition lips and glycerin is sometimes used as the carrier oil.
The Key Component found in the Argan Oil
Berber women have used Argan oil for centuries to protect and nourish their skin, hair and nails from the harsh conditions in which they live. When used as an addition to the lip gloss, the active ingredient, which makes Argan oil an effective moisturizer against excessive drying and other damages caused by sometimes harmful and unanticipated worsening of the mood of the weather, is the Vitamin E. Discovered to be very abundant in Argan oil, Vitamin E was reported to contain effective and potent antioxidants, which promote the good health of the body tissues. With body tissues strong and healthy, the aging process would slow down. This will then lead to a delay in the appearance of aging signs in the skin, like wrinkles. And naturally with the tissues healthy, the lips look captivating and voluptuous.
Just pure Argan oil can also stand alone and still be used as a lip gloss. Since many lip balms contain petroleum, which doesn’t absorb well into the skin, one may prefer to use pure Argan oil as it nourishes instantly and promotes the healing of dry, cracked lips. Simply rub one drop of Argan oil between the fingertips and gently apply to dry lips. With regular use of the Argan oil, one will notice a vast improvement in the appearance as well as the feel of the lips.
