On Sunday, October 25th, A503 with AIC S. Gantt, Driver J. Apter, and Junior 3rd K. Schall went to Arlington, Virginia to assist with the 34th Annual Marine Corp Marathon. With over twenty thousand runners this year, Arlington County Fire Department solicited help from surrounding jurisdictions using the Northern Virginia Council of Governments Mutual Aid Agreement. The crew was assigned to mile marker 6 at the intersection of Canal Road, NW and Reservoir Road, NW. After the last runner passed with no incident, A503 was reassigned to Crystal City in Arlington at the intersection of 23rd Street South and Crystal Drive. A503 was alerted to a downed runner and found a patient who was suffering from severe dehydration and hyperthermia. After turning the patient over to a Medic Unit from another jurisdiction, A503 went back to their post where they would treat and transport a patient for dehydration with nausea. After releasing the patient to an Aid tent, A503 was then assigned to downtown Rosslyn at North Nash Street and Wilson Boulevard, next to the Rosslyn Metro station. A503 was then assigned to their last post for the day, North Fort Myer Drive. After the crowd thinned down, A503 was released by Medical Command and returned to Dumfries.
